Most of the flights with cash booking can be upgraded with Avios. Depending on the flight availability, it can be done at the time of booking or later. You cannot upgrade the lowest economy (World Traveller) fares (Q, O, and G) Avios. For upgrading, there must be a next reward flight availability. You cannot upgrade with Avios at the airport or on board.
